Communications

I have a long background in both public relations and internal communications.

This has ranged from Rockdale City Council in Sydney where I wrote press releases, edited tow newsletters, wrote mayoral speeches, answered journalist's queries and worked on strategy matters. At Parramatta, a much larger council in New South Wales, the emphasis was on media engagement of initiatives which directly affected local communities.

At the University of Sussex the role involved press work, writing a designing a newsletter, updating Sussex's student and staff news websites and liaising with a students - not always easy when a student protest is taking place in a muddy field. In these circumstances only a pear of wellies and a chat face to face will do.

For Mardi Gras the role involved managing design work, website content and constructing advertising supplements as well as shepherding photographers along the route of the world's largest night time parade route.
