My art

Dabbling in paint is something I do purely for fun. I have no real formal training or discipline in it - so I don't pretend to be any good at it!

All I know is I like strong graphics but can't draw people very well. So I decide to keep my paintings and strong and graphical as possible with an almost cartooney feel to them.

I was inspired by an exhibition I saw in the back of a record shop in Vancouver, while on holiday with Jon. He was looking at esoteric Pacific Northwest indie bands, so I whiled away the time looking at the paintings of an artist called Chris Cummings who created images of cartoon characters. They had such a colourful, vivid, hyper real look to them that as soon as I got home I set about painting the cities we had been to.
